Why You Don’t Need To Shoot For A Six Figure Business

If You Love It Share It:

There is nothing about building a six figure business that makes you more valuable or “worthy”.

It has become a business world milestone. A badge of honor that somehow makes people “legit” or more serious business owners. But for most people, it is not a requirement.

And for some mommas, with constant interruptions is not always a practical one unless you have the right business model.

I have not met a woman yet who doesn’t have some small desire to help provide for her family. It might look different depending on the lifestyle of the family as a whole. But that deep desire to feel useful and contribute to the family is deeply ingrained in every person.

If we don’t find ways to fill that need, then we will start to feel useless and lose our sense of purpose.

If your desire to start a small business is rooted in wanting to help provide for your family, or if you are being honest…. to feel valuable. Then that is what you need to go after.

Not a certain amount of income, because that’s what everyone around you seems to think is the right number.

This might be a pride swalower. But you do not need to overload your sanity in order to prove your value, even if its to yourself. Ask me now I know…

New Here?

My goal is to help driven women who want to generate income and be available for their families find and build the sidehustle that fits their life instead of taking over it. If that sounds like you, take this steaming cup of coffee, grab some cabin socks and a cozy blanket, and let’s chat a while.

What Does Your Family Actually Need?

Before you attach yourself to a revenue number, it’s worth asking a quieter question: what does your family actually need?

The moment I focus on the numbers I need to reach that goal, the calmer I feel, and the more achievable that goal seems.

Not what social media celebrates.
Not what the podcast guest claims.
Not what someone else’s highlight reel says is gospel.

What does your household require to move forward?

Most couples never sit down and define this clearly. They talk in broad terms “more security,” “more margin,” “more freedom.” But saying it like that lets your mind run wild and lets it slap a number out there, causing the weight of it to sit on your shoulders.

When you put numbers to actual goals, the target often shrinks.

Maybe you want to pay off a vehicle. Build a modest savings cushion where you could handle anything that insurance wouldn’t cover. Cover groceries with your side hustle. Fund a small renovation.

Those goals may not require a six-figure business. They may require a few hundred dollars a month. Or a few thousand a year. That doesn’t make you small or invaluable.  That is balanced ambition.

Trying to Figure Out the Best Way to Make Money as a Mom?

You don’t need more ideas. You need to know which one will actually work in your real life.

The Quiet Pressure to Upgrade Everything

There is also a subtle pressure in our current environment to keep up with what appears like a good thing. Organic food, homesteading equipment, supplements. bulk meat shares. The “right” schooling choices. The aesthetic version of slow living.

None of these are inherently wrong. Some are deeply valuable. But they are expensive. And they are often presented as non-negotiable markers of being a “good mom”.

A good life is not defined by how many premium choices you stack into it. It is defined by alignment between your values, your capacity, and your life season. You can spread yourself thin chasing “good” upgrades that your family does not currently need.

A small business can quietly turn into a funding machine for lifestyle inflation if you’re not careful.

Ask Yourself Why You Want A Business

It’s also worth asking yourself, very plainly: why do I want to start a business?

Is it to ease financial pressure?
To feel capable?
To express something creative?
To prove something?
To escape a job?

None of these answers are automatically wrong. But they carry different consequences and also dictate the type of business you want to build.

A business of any size requires you to solve problems you do not yet know how to solve. It requires you to make decisions without certainty. It asks you to tolerate risk, rejection, and seasons of slow growth.

Even a modest small business demands resilience on the days you doubt everything. Are you willing to carry that weight?

Some women are. Some aren’t. And that answer may change over time. Sometimes, a part-time job might be the better answer for you if you don’t think you want what comes with running a business.

BUT don’t let the fear of the unknown and the effort it takes to do so keep you from what you are called and created to do.

Flexible Planning System

Make progress on your to-do list with constant interruptions

If rigid routines don’t work for your real life with constant interruptions and changing schedules, this flexible weekly planning system helps you make progress towards your goals even when every day looks different.

There Is More Than One Income Path

There is a quiet dignity in choosing a part-time job that offers stability over an unpredictable venture.

There is wisdom in flipping items on Facebook Marketplace for extra grocery money rather than building a brand. There is freedom in deciding that this season is not one for entrepreneurship at all.

Autonomy does not mean business ownership. It means choosing deliberately. If your goal is to help provide, clarity is your ally.

Sit down with your spouse. Name your shared priorities and goals. Put numbers next to them. Look at what is already coming in. Look at what is going out. You may discover that the gap is smaller than you thought.

A few extra dollars may close it. A flexible side income might be sufficient and a six-figure business may be unnecessary.

Feeling mentally overloaded? Fix it in 15 minutes.

If your brain feels like it has 42 tabs open and you can’t figure out what to do first, the Overwhelm Reset Toolkit gives you a simple, fast process to get calm and clear again. No planner. No routines. Just immediate relief and your next right step.

Calibrate Your Effort to the Actual Need

It is easy to absorb the belief that bigger revenue equals bigger contribution and more self-worth. A woman who brings in $500 a month with steadiness and sanity is not less worthy or less useful than one chasing scale. She may be more aligned with her family’s real life goals.

The point is not to shrink your potential. It is to steward it.

If you choose to build something, build it with your eyes open both before you build and every day after that. Running a business requires consistent calibration. If you find yourself off track or feeling like you aren’t doing enough its time to ask why.

Understand what it will demand of you. Understand what it will cost, not just financially, but emotionally and mentally. Then decide.

Not based on someone else’s business model.
Not based on cultural applause.

Based on what your household is actually working toward.

Helping provide for your family is not about hitting a headline number. It is about closing the right gap that your family needs in the right season, without losing yourself in the process.

If a small business serves that purpose, pursue it with intention.

If a smaller income goal meets the need, pursue that unapologetically.

The world does not get to define your threshold. Your responsibility is not to chase impressive numbers. It is to steward your life and your family wisely in the way that you feel convicted to do.
